Review: Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

The Body Shop had a great deal ended last month which entitles their customer a free Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover (60ml) upon any purchase. By spending RM18 for Passionberry Lip Balm, I managed to get my hands on this eye makeup remover worth RM12.80 for free.

According to The Body Shop website, they claim that this product is their best-selling mild lotion and is best to use if one wish to gentle cleanse and dissolve her eye makeup, at the same time condition her lashes.

The key ingredient for this product is definitely going to be Organic Camomile Water (stated big and eye-catching on the label anyway =P). The other ingredients are Water, Cyclomethicone, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Coco-Glucoside, Carbomer, Algae Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben.

Organic Camomile Water is well-known for its calming benefits and great in cooling and soothing the skin; Algae extract is rich in minerals that help to moisturize and revitalize skin while a gentle cleansing formula containing Glycerin acts as an effective moisturizer which also cleans skin and eye lashes without over drying.

How to use?
Drop a sufficient amount of remover onto a cotton wool pad. Place the pad over the eye area for a few second and gentle sweep in a downward motion in order to remove eye makeup from the lids and lashes <AVOID dragging the skin as this may result in the formulation of lines>. Repeat with new cotton wool pad until all eye makeup are removed. Remember to follow with normal cleansing routine (cleanse, tone and moisturize).

My says:
The bottle packaging is rather simple but yet still caught my attention with their key ingredient (Camomile) and I’m so excited to give this a try after attending a wedding dinner with full makeup on. The texture is kinda watery and rather no scent. As what the product claimed, it does a great job in terms of being gentle to my skin (eyes). It is so light and doesn’t sting my eyes (this is the most important issue we all concern, don’t we?).

However, I was quite disappointed with the result. It doesn’t remove my eye makeup as easy as I do with other makeup remover. My mascara and liner are still in place. No much difference before I use the remover. Then I think maybe the amount I used is not enough and thus, I almost wet the cotton wool pad until the remover can drip out. Am I able to remove my eye makeup then? NOOO~!

I am so tired and sleepy after the wedding dinner and can't wait to jump into my bed right at that moment. I have totally lost my patience and the next thing I do is starting to rub and drag my eyes just to remove the mascara and liner @.@

This sounds so sarcastic to me as the product has a friendly reminder to avoid dragging the skin where I HAVE to do it not just only ONCE~ My mascara and liner starts falling in small tiny little pieces on my cheeks after the rubs and this become so messy in the cleaning process. Well, I guess it has performed its job for being gentle to my skin, but perhaps, too gentle??

I would never use this product again on my heavy eyes makeup to avoid this scenarios to happen again. But having said that, I think this eye makeup remover will act better on light makeup. Would try this next time and hopefully it wouldn't turn me down again.
